Just what is an Achromatic Colour Scheme?.......

An Achromatic Colour Scheme is strictly speaking not a colour scheme at all!

It is a scheme where you use only Blacks, Whites, and Greys.

People have different views on whether black and white are true colours or not. For the purpose of this site we will always refer to them as neutrals.

In a nutshell Black does not emit or reflect light and white reflects all light.

But what does this all this mean for cardmakers? - It means when you are cardmaking you can create some stunning results using a stark Black and White or Black, White and Grey scheme.

An Achromatic scheme works really well to create a modern looking card but it can also work equally well when trying to create a vintage feel, especially when using old prints or photographs.

For this card a photographic Topper was Matt and layered onto black and then silver mirror card.

Double sided foam pads were used to raise this mat from a 2nd larger mat made from a patterned Background Paper layered again onto black and then silver mirror card.

This was then fixed onto a plain base card using double sided tape

The silver edging works well on this card, enhancing the scheme.

Certain Rubber Stamps have an etched or sketched feel to them and these fit well into this type of scheme.
