Bleaching-Out : Adding a Different Spin to Your Embossing & Rubber Stamping!......

Bleaching-Out is a cardmaking technique you don't see used very often, which is a pity, because it adds something different to your Embossing and Rubber Stamping.

When we talk about "Bleaching-Out, does it conjure up visions of using bleach to clean the kitchen sink? From now on let it bring on visions of beautiful cards!

To start with you'll need:

Cheap Bleach

A small Container

A fine Paint Brush

Your choice of Coloured Card

The Rubber Stamp you want to use

Embossing Powder

A Heat Gun

The idea is that you are going to bleach some of the colour out of the embossed image on your card.
STEP 1: Stamp and emboss your chosen image onto your coloured cardstock.

( For instructions on Rubber Stamping and Embossing see the relevant sections of this website.)

STEP 2: Pour some of your bleach into a small container and using your paintbrush, "paint" the bleach over the areas where you want to remove the colour. Work carefully so as not to accidently splash and remove colour from an area where you want it to stay!

STEP 3: Allow the cardstock to dry and then colour in the bleached areas in colours which will complement the background card.

This technique allows you to use a rubber stamped image on a dark coloured card background, without losing either the details of the image or compromsing the colour of the background.

TIP: Each piece of cardstock will react differently when the bleach is applied. You may decide that the area works well without the need for any further colouring.

Experiment - there are no rules to break - in cardmaking you make your own!
