Tips For Using Your Brayer......

TIP: Choose a Brayer with a detachable roller - this makes it easier to both clean and to use for the tips and ideas listed below.

Wipe the roller clean with baby-wipes or wash it in warm soapy water. If you have used a permanent ink then you will have to use a solvent cleaner to get the roller clean.

TIP: Brayering works best on shiny or glossy card. The ink covers better and goes further because the card does not absorb it.

You can use other card but remember if you're working on glossy card you must use a dye-based inkpad.

1. Wrap an elastic band around the roller before running it across the inkpad - this will create a streamer like effect across the card.

2. Cover the roller with cling film - this will create a ruched effect across your work.

3. If you have some spare bubble wrap, ink up your roller and run it over the bubble wrap. Then "stamp" the bubble wrap onto your work. This will create an interesting background.

4. If you are creating a scene on your card which requires a moon or sun in it cut a small circle out of a piece of Post-It notelet.

Make sure you position part of the cut out over the adhesive edge so that it will stick to the card. When you have it positioned where you want roller over the card as required.

Carefully remove the Post-It and there you will have your sun/moon.

5. Remember paper doilies? If you have still have some lay one over your card and the roller over the top to create a lace effect.

6. You can create a mirror image of a stamp very easily.

Ink up you stamp as normal and then roll the brayer over it. Work out where you want the image to go on your card and then carefully "roll" it off the roller. Re-ink your stamp and stamp directly onto the card in the opposite position to the "rolled off" image.

This works well if you are trying to create a reflection.
