Card Making Punches have been around for a number of years but recently their popularity has soared following the introduction of a new generation of punches.
Card Making Punches, are in essence mini hand held die cutting machines - they punch out either a single item or a border or corner design.
If you can think of something you want to punch out then they will a punch out there on the market somewhere which does it!
Using a punch could not be easier - you simply slip the paper or card you want punched into the punch as far as it will go and then press down on the handle.
Punches come in all sizes, from as small as 3/8" to as large as 3½".
The smaller mini punches are suitable for punching paper and thin card whilst the larger punches can handle heavier weights.
This pretty card shows just much a pretty punched edge border can add to a handmade card.
A plain white card blank has been mostly covered with a background paper from the Raggedy Anne Collection at Cardmaking-Ideas, the bottom edge of which has been punched with a Martha Stewart lace heart edge punch.
TIP: It is always best to punch on a flat surface.
