Using Charms in your card making can turn a card into a keepsake........

The dictionary states Charms "can be a trinket worn on a bracelet or necklet"; or "something worn or carried for its supposed magical effect".

Using Charms on your card making can have a magical effect - they can turn an ordinary card into a keepsake, something that the recipient will want to keep.

They are an under used embellishment, which is a real shame, as they do look special and add a certain value to the card.

Charms can be made of silver or gold tone metal, brass, pewter, crystal or enamel.

Whatever occasion you are card making for there will be a charm out there for you. Here is a small sample:-

Christmas: Candy cane, bells, angels, snowflakes, Christmas trees, nativity cahracters.

Easter: Eggs, rabbits, spring flowers.

Halloween: Skeletons, pumpkins, etc.

St Patrick's Day: Shamrocks etc

Gardening: Tools such as watering cans etc.

Travel: cars, construction vehicles, iconic VW Camper vans, suitcases, etc.

Food and Drink: Cocktails, sweets, fruits, etc

Fashion: Sunglasses, handbags, shoes etc.

Animals: Numerous animals, paw prints etc.

Cute: Teddy Bears, dolls, fairies, robots etc.

Oriental: Chinese symbols and discs.

Awareness Statement: For example red and pink ribbons.

FIXING CHARMS TO YOUR CARD:

Some charms come with a loop on them and this can be used to fix them to the card with either ribbon or cord.

If they do not have a loop then you can use craft glue dots or sticky glue to affix them to the card. Take care if your charm is heavy - make sure you use a strong glue and let it dry completely before you start moving the card around.
