If Opposites Attract, do Complementary Colours Work Well Together?......
Yes they do! As the name suggests Complementary colours work well together because they complement one another.
In terms of a colour wheel they tend to be directly opposite one another. They work together in pairs. Examples of this are:
Red and Green, Blue and Orange and Yellow and Purple. By using these colours in your cardmaking your cards will have a big impact and feel quite intense -in a good way of course! Look how striking this football card is - it was made by a good friend, Sally, and although the design of the card is quite simple the colour combination is really effective. The secret of making the cards work well is to use the colours in unequal proportions. You can also use different shades of the colour combinations. If you choose to use one colour for only a small proportion of your card this can then become an accent colour. If you intend to use embellishments on your card choose ones in the accent colour. This will give your cards a professional feel to them. If you add a Neutral colour to the combination it can soften the feel of the card whilst at the same time increasing the impact of the Complementary Colours. That may sound a bit contradictory but it does work - try it and see the results for yourself.
