Copic Markers : Perfect For Your Card Making!.......
Copic Markers are the perfect medium for colouring your rubber stamped images.
Copic Markers are alcohol based ink pens. They are perfect for colouring in your Rubber Stamping because they will blend together to give your work shading. You get purchase either Copic Ciao or Copic Sketch pens. One end of the pen has a chisel shaped nib for calligraphy work, and the other end has a brush tip for art work. The nibs are very durable and if you have a large area to cover then work with the side of the nib. Both sets of Copic pens work on a colour numbering system. - The 1st digit is the colour "0" being the lightest shade of the colour, The following numbers are the shade within the colour category, with "0" again being the lightest. To get the effect of shading you should work with shades that are 2 numbers apart, and ideally use 3 different pens in any one area.
This Birthday Card shows how effective a Copic coloured image can look on a card. The complimentary background paper is from a range of checks available from Cardmaking-Ideas When shading an image always start with the palest shade first and work quickly in small circles. As you work try to keep the area wet - look on the reverse of the card you are using to make sure that the colour has gone on evenly.
It is best to work on card or paper with a smooth surface - a textured paper will soak up far too much ink. When working with Copics always make sure that the ink you rubber stamp with is compatible. Using a permanent ink such as Staz-On will react with the Copics and it will "bleed". If you use a dye based ink, such as Memento, then you will not have this problem and this is the preferred ink of many Copic enthusiasts. If you are unsure about your ink always do a test first rather than risk ruining your project. If you heat set your image ( ie. wave a heat gun over the image) for a few seconds this will also help to set the ink, this is particularly important if you use an ink such as Brillance or Adirondack.
