Embossing Machines such as the Cuttlebug, Sizzix and The Wizard Discussed.......

Dry Embossing adds another dimension to your cardmaking.

It can be done quickly and easily using one of the many Embossing Machines that are currently on the market.

The machine which seems to have captured most people's imagination is the Cuttlebug. The machine works both as a die cutter and an embosser.

It's a very simple machine to use: For Embossing:

1.: You open up the platforms and this action ensures the machine fixes itself firmly to your work surface by suction.

2.: Place the cardstock you are using face side up inside an Embossing Folder. These are plastic folders, available in many designs at reasonable prices.

3.: Put the Embossing Folder between the plastic plates. Plate A at the bottom, then 1st plate B, then the folder and finally the 2nd plate B.

4.: Put the plates into the machine and feed them through by turning the handle.

TIP:Until you get confident always do a trial run first with some scrap paper.

TIP: Always make sure there is enough room around the machine for the plates to feed through - obvious we know, but when you're in a hurry you can forget to check!

There is also a CuttleKids machine designed for youngsters who want to start crafting.

The Sizzix family of machines includes the Original Sizzix, the Big Shot, and the Sidekick.

The Original Sizzix machine needs a Sissix System Converter to make it into an embosser.

The Big Shot is the biggest machine in the range whilst the Sidekick is both more affordable and easier to move around.

As with the Cuttlebug, the Sizzix embossing family uses embossing folders in various designs.

The Wizard System is designed to emboss with Spellbinders Die Templates but it will also work with other manufacturers' brass stencils and the Cuttlebug embossing folders. Which colour Wizard machine you have will determine in what order the mats should be placed to use other manufacturers' folders.

TIP: Always check the manufacturers' instructions for compatability when looking to use a different make of embossing folder in your machine.

Buying a machine is an investment - but it's well worth it!
