Every Handmade Paper is Unique .....Just Like You!

Every person who makes a hand made card and reads this website is unique - just like every sheet of Handmade Paper.

There are no two sheets the same! And that is the beauty of it. It is also environmental friendly as most are made with recycled materials. Did you know you can even buy Elephant Dung and Wombat Dung paper!

Mulberry Paper is perhaps the best known handmade paper. It is made with strands of fibre in it and has a textured look and feel to it.

You can also get marbled effects, paper embellished with silky chain stitch, silky rag fibre, and papers infused with jute, tea leaves, rose petals and even marigolds to name just a few.

TIP: Due to the nature of this paper it is best to use spray adhesive to stick it down - double sided tape will show through and can cause tears.

TIP: Although you can cut this paper it works well if you tear the edges to give a frayed effect.

To get it to tear evenly use a waterbrush to wet the paper where you want it to tear, then gently tear along the wet line, using a ruler or other straight edge for guidance.Gently feather out the torn edges.

This close up shows how effective the frayed edge paper can be. The pink handmade paper has been used for a base matt for a silver embossed snowflake.

As you can see you do not have to be too particular about the edges - the fibres in the paper will determine the amount of "feathering" which occurs when you wet and tear.

This card was made by Sally and was donated to me to sell for my Mission work in Uganda & Macedonia.

As you can see the embellishment sits at the top of the card with a peel off sentiment in the lower third.

This type of card is very easy to make, especially if you need to mass produce a batch of Handmade Christmas Cards.

By changing the embossed image this card can be easily adapted to suit many other Card Occasions.
