Masking is an Impressive Technique to Help You Get More From Your Rubber Stamps........

Once you get used to using Masking in your cardmaking you will view all your rubber stamps in a different light!

Instead of rubber stamping a single image, by using a mask, you can create a more interesting design.

STEP 1: Pick a stamp you think will work well. Pick the cardstock you want to work with.

For example if you wanted to use a single choirboy stamp you could turn him into a full choir by using this technique.

STEP 2: Stamp your image onto a Post-It notelet (or similar), making sure that part of the image is stamped over the sticky adhesive band.

Stamp the image with a bright permanent ink. It will not run if it gets wet with other ink and will let you see clearly which part of the stamped image you are masking.

STEP 3: Carefully cut out around your image. You needn't bother with any bits that are too fiddly. The cut out image becomes your mask.

STEP 4: Having decided on how you want your finished design to be, stamp your 1st image onto the cardstock.

STEP 5: When that ink has dried cover part of the 1st image with your mask, making sure that the adhesive band is stuck down. Stamp your 2nd image, part of which will overlap onto the mask.

STEP 6: Continue masking and stamping until you have all the images you want.

IDEA: This technique doesn't have to be used just to create a centre piece for your card. You can also use it to create a frame or border around your work.
