Paper Piecing - A Great Technique To Use With Your Rubber Stamping!......

Paper Piecing is a term normally associated with Quiliting, where the paper is used as a pattern for creating the quilt blocks. However it is also a technique which works well with your Rubber Stamping .

Quite simply Paper Piecing is using pieces of paper to fill in parts of your rubber stamped design rather than colouring them in with other mediums such as Copic Pens.

This card is an example of how Paper Piecing can work.

1.: Rubber Stamp your chosen image onto your background card.

2.: Re -stamp the same image onto the patterned paper you wish to use as the "filler".

3.: Carefully cut around the parts you wish to use and then glue them to the original stamped image.

4.: Finish off the work by colouring in any parts of the remaining design that you think warrants it.

In this design I have used a dotty paper from .Cardmaking-Ideas for the umbrella, collar, pockets, hat and boots. To help bring this out I have matt and layered the image onto the same dotty paper.

A finishing touch is a small fabric heart Card Making Embellishment .

Here's another example of how effective Paper Piecing can be - yet again on the theme of rain!

TIP: In my opinion this technique works best when using a patterned paper, and unless the area you are planning to fill in is large a small pattern is the most effective.

TIP: This is a great way of using up your scraps of patterned paper.
