Let's Shake It All About with Shaker Cards.......
Shaker Cards do exactly what they say they'll do - they shake! Or rather the things you put inside them do!
Any Aperture Card can quickly and easily be made into a Shaker Card by following a few simple steps: 1. Cut a piece of acetate slightly larger than the aperture, approximately ½ inch or 1-1½ cm. 2. Fix the acetate to the inside of the card. TIP: If you use sticky dots or a thin double sided tape around the opening then it will give an almost invisible finish. 3. Around the inside edge of the acetate stick strips of double sided 3D foam. Tip: Don't put it too close to the edge of the aperture as you don't want to be able to see it from the right side of the card. 4. Put the "bits" you want to shake carefully onto the acetate - don't overfill the acetate or it will ruin the effect. 5. Put some double sided tape around the inside edges of the card. 6. You can either use a piece of the same card for the background to your window; or you can use a contrasting card; or a background paper. 7. Remove the backing from the double sided tape and the 3D foam. 8. Carefully stick the chosen backing over the aperture side of the card. Make sure that you press down carefully around the aperture. TIP: If you use a Tri-Fold card the opening should be in the middle panel , and after you have followed steps 1 - 7 carefully fold the front panel inside to cover the aperture. IDEAS: If you're wondering what "bits" to put inside your Shaker Card - anything small will do. For example: confetti, glitter, grains of sand, rice, small die-cuts. Why not make it a "smelly shaker" and put some lavender in or some other fragrant herbs. Just remember to pin prick the front of the acetate so the smell can get out!
