Which Ever Way You Fold Them - Tri-Fold Cards Can Be Special......

Tri-Fold Cards, or Three Fold Cards are very simple to fold but can be made to look very special.

Like many things you do in cardmaking, you start off with one thing and then you add a twist and you get something else!

Tri-Fold Cards, or Three Fold Cards are very simple to fold but can be made to look very special.

Like many things you do in cardmaking, you start off with one thing and then you add a twist and you get something else!

So to make your Tri Fold Cards:

1. Divide the cardstock you want to use into thirds.

2. Mark the measurements and then using your metal ruler and fine tipped embossing tool gently score 2 fold lines.

3. First fold one side inwards, and then fold the other side inwards over the top of the first side.

4. Now the fun begins! - start to decorate your card in whatever style you choose. You can theme the whole card or you can use contrasting panels. Why not put a "surprise" on the centre back panel such as telling the recipient of the card just how much they mean to you?

IDEA: Cut diagonally, from the end of the first panel, across the top of the card so that when it opens up instead of a straight edge you have different lines and angles.

TIP: If you use Duo Card which has a different colour on each side your card will have an automatic contrast as you open it up. You then can either just put embellishments on the card or you can emboss or rubber stamp on it.

Now to add the twist:

5. Instead of folding one panel over the other - at the first score mark on the left hand side, fold backwards.

6.At the second score mark on the right hand side, fold forwards.

7. Flip the card over so that the front panel now opens outwards, left to right.

The card now opens like a Concertina card.

Again decorate it as you wish.

TIP:As always in cardmaking- Experiment with pieces of scrap paper and try cutting across the top of the card diagonally in different directions to see which way you prefer.
