Card....the basic ingredient for cardmaking!

When choosing which card stock to use for your cardmaking you will again be faced with a world of choice.

Here are just a few of the types availiable. Remember each type will not be suitable for every project you want to make, for example a textured finish would be difficult to Rubber Stamp on. Try to imagine what you want the end result to look like when first making your choice.

Pearlescent finish, like the pearlescent paper, has a smooth pearl effect surface.

This card had been made using pink and coffee coloured pearlescent card. The camera has picked up beautifully the shimmer that this type of card stock has.

Cards made with pearlescent card tend to have that expensive feel!

Matt finish is the basic card used in cardmaking. It is avaliable in many colours and weights but the most popular with card makers tends to be either white or cream. The matt surface is smooth which means it is good for a whole range of projects.

Linen finish has a similar texture to it as a fine linen fabric. The most common colours are white or cream. When used this finish can look quite elegant and as such would be suitable for wedding stationery.

Hammered finish gets its name because its surface looks like a piece of metal which has been hammered. It has lots of little bump like effects. Again it is mainly avaliable in white or cream.

Metallic finish, as its name suggests, has a metallic sheen to it. It is a good choice for men's cards.

Foiled card has a foil pattern printed on it and this tends to create a very elegant and expensive looking card.

Holographic and Patterned card is also avaliable in many designs.
