From square card blanks to apertures, accordian folds and beyond.......

Once you have decided which card stock you are going to use you can then look at which card blanks you want.

You can buy your card blanks already made or you can decide to make them yourself out of blank card.

The traditional Single Fold card blanks are square or rectangular and this is what the majority of card makers still use.

To give an extra special look to Single Fold Card always remember to add a Card Making Insert Card Making Insert to it to set it off.

If you are feeling a little more adventurous then you can use an Aperture Card. As its name suggests the front panel has an opening in it, a circle, square or any shape you can cut. You can either dangle something in the aperture or just use it as a frame to whatever you decide to do on the inside of the card.

An Aperture card can also be made into a Shaker Card very easily by sandwiching some "shaker bits" such as glitter between 2 pieces of acetate in the aperture.

Window cards are like aperture cards except that the front opening is cut like a 4 or 6 panel window.

Gate Fold Cards have 2 folds in them. The front panels open outwards like a set of gates and reveal a back centre panel which you can decorate.

Tri-Fold Cards are also made by making 2 folds into your card but they are folded to make a concertina effect. If the card is cut diagonally across the top before folding it creates an interesting staircase effect. Tri-fold cards look very effective when duo card is used.

Accordian fold cards have multiple panels and open out like an accordian. You can make this type of card with as many panels as you want.

Waterfall cards take a little more time to create but they do make extra special cards. On the front of the card it looks like just one one image but when you pull the tag the image "waterfalls" dow
