Rubber Stamping....Beware it can become addictive!

Yes it's true... rubber stamping can become addictive!

Some card makers stay away from rubber stamping thinking that is a technique which is too difficult to learn. Nothing could be further from the truth!

With a bit of practice you can create lovely images on your cards and over time you will develop your own unique style.

Rubber stamps can either be a solid image or an outline image.

On Solid stamps you can use a brush marker to ink directly onto the image and this creates an art style image.

Inking an outline stamp, using an ink pad will create an image which can either be left blank, coloured in or shaded.

There are a variety of types of rubber stamps. The traditional kind is wood mounted - as its name suggests the rubber image sits on a wooden block which is often grooved down the sides for ease of holding.

Unmounted stamps are exactly what they say they are - they are unmounted and to use them you have to add some special foam to the back of them which will make them adhere to an acrylic block or you use some mounting adhesive.

In recent years clear stamps have become very popular. They are made from polymer and are often sold in themed sets. A full set can cost less than the price of one large wooden stamp.

Foam mounted stamps are generally not as good quality as the other types of stamps and do not always produce as good as image as the other stamps.
